1 cup vegetable oil
2 small onions, thinly sliced
1.5 lb. extra-lean ground beef
3 tbsp iSpice WellnessTM Meat Sauce Seasoning*
1/2 cup tomato paste
2 cups basmati rice, rinsed under cold water
2 russet potatoes, peeled sliced into 1" rounds
3 cups green beans, trimmed & cut into thirds
Step 1: Heat 3/4 cup vegetable oil in a large frying pan over high heat. Fry green beans for 5 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain.
Step 2: Add onions to pan and cook until starting to brown.
Step 3: Add ground beef, iSpice WellnessTM Meat Sauce Seasoning* and tomato paste. Brown beef completely. Stir in green beans.
Step 4: Meanwhile, fill a large pot halfway with water and bring to the boil. Cook rice for 4 minutes. Drain & run under cold water.
Step 5: Drizzle remaining oil in the bottom of a medium non-stick pot.
Step 6: Heat oil over medium-high heat, cover the bottom of the pot with potato slices and lower heat to LOW.
Step 7: Cover potatoes with an even layer of cooked rice.
Step 8: Cover rice with a thin layer of beef.
Step 9: Repeat with rice and beef two times more, finishing with a layer beef. Do not press the rice and beef down while layering, rather keep it loose.
Step 10: Cover the pot tightly and cook over medium-low heat for 20 minutes or until steaming.
Step 11: To serve, place a large serving dish over the pot. While holding the sides of the pot and the plate firmly in place, flip the pot upside down and remove the pot to reveal the finished product.
