Black Pepper Focaccia

Black Pepper Focaccia

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • Coarse sea salt, for topping

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.

Step 2

Add the warm water and olive oil to the bowl and stir until a dough forms.

Step 3

Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.

Step 4

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover it with a damp cloth. Allow it to rise for 1-2 hours until it has doubled in size.

Step 5

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Step 6

Grease a baking sheet with olive oil.

Step 7

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into a flat disc. Place it onto the prepared baking sheet.

Step 8

Use your fingers to press dimples into the top of the dough.

Step 9

Drizzle the top of the dough with olive oil and sprinkle with black pepper and coarse sea salt.

Step 10

Bake the focaccia for 20-25 minutes, or until it is golden brown and crispy on top.

Step 11

Remove the focaccia from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
