How To Make Pinto Bean

How To Make Pinto Bean

Ingredients

  • 1 pound dried pinto beans
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Water

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the pinto beans in a colander and remove any debris or stones.

Step 2

Soak the pinto beans in water overnight, or for at least 6 hours.

Step 3

Drain the soaked beans and rinse them again.

Step 4

In a large pot or Dutch oven, sauté the onion and garlic until softened, about 5 minutes.

Step 5

Add the cumin and chili powder to the pot and stir to combine.

Step 6

Add the drained beans to the pot, along with enough water to cover the beans by about an inch.

Step 7

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer, partially covered, for 1-2 hours, or until the beans are tender.

Step 8

Add salt and pepper to taste.

Step 9

Serve the pinto beans as a side dish or use them in your favorite Mexican-inspired dishes, such as burritos, tacos, or chili.
